Lakes and Streams

Knowing the habitat of the type fish is important to becoming an accomplished angler. Learning the type of fish and where you’ll find them will give you a better understanding fishing in familiar and unfamiliar areas.

Lake fishing often requires different fishing equipment than stream fishing. Everything from the set of lures you bring, to whether you use a fly rod or a spinning rod, to deciding if you want to wear your waders or bring your boat all hinges on the habitat of the fish you’re after. So, take a closer look at what each brings.

Natural lakes are popular, both because of their great fishing and for their beauty. There are three types of natural lakes for the fisherman, warm water lakes which support Large Mouth Bass, Spotted Bass, White Bass and Stripers, cold water lakes which hold trout and salmon, pike and grayling, and two story lakes which support both cold water and warm water species.

Lakes

Though less fished than lakes, there are millions of miles of rivers and streams in North America alone. Youll find almost every variety of warm or cool water fish in warm rivers.
